Streambank erosion problems along the Choctawhatchee River contribute to the lack of suitable habitat for many species of aquatic life, especially the Federally Threatened Gulf Sturgeon. Streambank stabilization with soft armoring and the establishment of a riparian buffer will create beneficial habitat for fish, mussels, deer, turkey and other wildlife species.
